Anti-Taboo – Advice for Friends

The aim of my book is to break many taboos that characterise Albanian life and Albanian social thought. That is why I titled it "Anti-Taboo". The book represents an intellectual insistence on knocking at and opening the heavy doors of the many taboos that shackle Albanian society today. Taboos created by the painful history of long occupations lasting thousands of years. Taboos created by proverbial poverty and by the forced tendency to survive by closing in on oneself. Taboos created by the imposition of the heterogeneous mentalities and cultures of all the occupations of Albanian lands over two thousand years. Taboos created by a low cultural level and by geographical and spiritual encirclement. Taboos hardened by the incurable tribal foundation of Albanian society and the Albanian mind. Taboos created by autocratic regimes and autocratic leaders throughout the history of the Albanian state.
